DESCRIPTION:Chamber Music Concert - October 17\, 2024 at 6 pm\n\nChamber Music Concert  in the works of von Zemlinsky\, Beethoven\, Shostakovitch\, Grieg\, Dohnanyi\, Chopin.\n\nAbout Performers:\n\nKaren Goodgold plays the clarinet with the North Shore Chamber Orchestra\, the Music Institute of Chicago's Chamber Winds\, serves as a substitute clarinetist with the Evanston Symphony Orchestra\, and has played with several other local orchestras. She serves as the president of the North Shore Musicians Club and sits on the board of directors of the Evanston Symphony Orchestra\, combining her love for music with her business skills that she honed through her MBA program and the University of Chicago and her former role as treasurer of the Chicago Public Schools. She studies with Claire Werling.\n\nDaniel Kaplan is Principal Cellist of the North Shore Chamber Orchestra\, a committed chamber-music player\, and a retired physics professor who taught at Northern Illinois University and Illinois Institute of Technology for a total of 35 years. He is also a composer and arranger with several pieces for sale on online sheet-music sites. He continues to pursue physics research on a part-time basis.\n\nAbhishek Sarkar is a scientist pianist who has focused his life on bridging disciplines.  He has performed solo and chamber music in Boston\, Chicago\, and Sicily. He was awarded multiple MIT Emerson Music Fellowships and has studied with John Herrmann\, Mayron Tsong\, Clara Yang\, Timothy McFarland\, and Svetlana Belsky. He has played in solo masterclasses with Daria Rabotnika and Caroline Oltmanns\, among others. He has also been coached on chamber music by the Jupiter String Quartet\, the Fidelio Trio\, the Spektral String Quartet\, and pianist Marta Aznavoorian\, among others.\n\nCheryl Stone works primarily in the field of healthcare market research\, moonlights as an income tax preparer\, and enjoys exploring music as an active amateur pianist. After decades away\, Cheryl resumed her study of classical piano 15 years ago\, currently studying with Elaine Felder\, head of the piano faculty at Music Institute of Chicago (MIC). Cheryl loves to bring musicians together\, as the organizer and/or board member of several piano performance groups\, a chamber music meetup\, and a music performance club. She also enjoys sharing music with others\, performing in MIC's adult student recitals in Nichols Hall\, Evanston.\n\nJeffrey Wagner holds a BA in Music History and Theory from Northwestern University\; an MM in Piano Performance from Indiana University\; and has pursued doctoral studies at the Cleveland Institute of Music and Case Western Reserve University. For many years he contributed regularly as a Consulting Editor to Clavier Magazine. He has traveled around the USA\, Canada\, and Europe\, to interview over 40 well-known pianists and teachers. He has twice won the "EdPress" award for excellence in educational journalism. He performs regularly at the Lake Forest Place community\, and the Park Ridge Public Library.
