DESCRIPTION:The Cold War between the NATO countries on one side and the Warsaw Pact states on the other reached its peak in the 1950's and 60's. Korean War\, Cuban Missile Crisis and construction of the Berlin Wall almost turned a cold into a hot war. But did you know that the conflict began way before then?\n\n\n\nJust after World War I was settled\, US-troops called The Polar Bears fought the Soviet Red Army in Northern Russia and Siberia between September 1918 and July 1919. It was part of the Allied intervention in Russian Revolution.\n\n\n\nWerner Juretzko and Chris Sturdevant of the Cold War Museum will take you on a fascinating journey back to that time. Experience a historical insight with clips of the documentary Voice of a Never Ending Dawn.\n\nJuretzko\, former spy and prisoner in Eastern Germany\, will give an overview about "The Philosophy of Global Communist Expansion" while Sturdevant\, board member of Cold War Museum Midwest chapter\, will go in detail about the "Polar Bear Expedition."\n\n\n\nJoin us on this trip through history on Thursday\, April 18 2013\, at 7 pm at the Skyline Lounge on 6th floor of the DANK Haus German American Cultural Center.\n\nThe event is free and open to the public.
